THE FOUNDING OF MASTER’S HAPKIDO
Master’s Hapkido was founded by Master Wolfe in 2007 quite unintentionally; Master Wolfe since his retirement has been very busy post 911 teaching military and police science and tactics to a diverse group of clients. Therefore he had not officially taught any formal Hapkido because of the demands made of him for operational training. He had turned the running and teaching of his Hapkido School over to his black belts. In 2007 he was approached by these Hapkido black belts to teach an instructors seminar on Hapkido. The theme of the seminar was to be old technique and training as compared with today’s style of Hapkido. Someone coined the phrase after the seminar, “the Old Master is back” and hence, “Master’s Hapkido”!
So when not at home retired living in Mexico or on the road teaching clients on other projects one thing has lead to another and by word of mouth Master Wolfe has had requests for Hapkido seminars on techniques and weapons. He now tries to fulfill as many of these events as he can. This website was posted to let other Hapkidoist know about the opportunity to learn from Master Wolfe’s decade’s old unique Hapkido skill and knowledge; as well as his vast insight into the modern warrior’s skill and martial tactics.
Please be advised, Master’s Hapkido is not associated with any current Hapkido Association/Federation or other Hapkido Grand Master. In this manner Master Wolfe wishes to keep the training experience simple, fun and effective, “so we can all concentrate on our skills and not argue politics or other such foolish pastimes”. This means that anyone, any school or organization can take advantage of the knowledge and skill Master Wolfe has to offer. Master Wolfe however does recognize Master Song Jae Han and Grand Master Lee Myung Hee as his two premier Hapkido teachers one in Canada the other in Korea and also that he has had the honour since 1969 to train with many of the earliest Hapkido Masters appointed by the Founder Doju Choi Yong Sul in Korea, North America and Europe and was a member of the KHA under Grand Master Ji Han Jae.
